T.E.A.M. VOLLEYBALL RULES

The net will be six feet, six inches ( 6’6” ) high at the center.

The team serving the ball is the service team. The team receiving the serve is the receiving team.

A coin toss will determine the service team. The teams will alternate serve and courts each game thereafter, Rally Point Scoring: either team can score a point whether they are serving or not. A point will always be scored during any stoppage of play unless it is a re-service.

The service line will be fifteen feet (for both 5th & 6th) from the net, and extends across the court. A server may serve anywhere behind this line. A server may serve up to three (3) successful serves in a row and then must rotate.

A serve may hit the net provided it goes over.

A serve is illegal if:

Players will rotate in at the upper left-hand comer of the court.

The ball may be hit no more than three (3) times before it is returned to the opponent’s court

A player may not hit the ball two (2) times in a row.

A block does not count as a hit.

A player may leave the court to play the ball

A bonus point will be awarded to each team that successfully uses three (3) bits to pass the ball over the net

A maximum of one point, per team, per service volley.

If the ball hits the ceiling as it crosses the net, it is a side out and a point. However, the ball will still be in play if it hits the ceiling on your side and your team still has a hit left. A ball that passes through a ceiling support, but does not touch it, is in play.

Basketball backboards and ropes:

  • which have been raised to the ceiling become part of the ceiling and follow the ceiling rule.
  • that protrude from the wall will be played as either out of bounds (point / side out) or a dead ball and the volley replayed. The coaches and referees will agree before the match how they will be played.
